Job Description


Develop and lead Human Resources practices and objectives to provide an engaged, productive and positive work environment. Areas of responsibility include organizational development, staffing, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and HR strategic planning.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Consult with Mill Leadership to provide recommendations for improving effectiveness of HR policies and practices
  • Provide leadership coaching and training for managers, shift team leaders and key mill leaders
  • Labor Relations resource for the Mill
  • Promote and facilitate changes to hourly work environments to increase employee engagement and ability to contribute
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws
  • Lead salary recruiting and retention for areas of responsibility
  • Develop compensation packages for salary new hires, transfers, and promotions
  • Lead and/or participate in hourly production and craft hiring process
  • Determine employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive working relationship
  • Assist in leading training efforts across the mill
  • Assist HR Manager as needed


Job Requirements

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and/or
  • 5-7 years of experience within a heavy manufacturing setting with a unionized workforce

  • Understands and has experience in applying organizational development principles with hourly workforce
  • Working knowledge of labor relations, employee benefits, compensation, organizational planning, training and development
  • Exhibits strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to define and implement strategic initiatives
  • Make critical decisions and manage conflict
  • Knowledge of applicable employment and labor law
