Job Description


The Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for safely developing and implementing sound electrical reliability practices to reduce manufacturing process downtime through predictive/preventative maintenance systems. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Always make safety most important. Emphasize safety to all levels of the facility.
  • Enhance and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance systems to minimize equipment downtime in all areas of the mill.
  • Provide engineering leadership and expertise to solve ongoing and reocurring electrical problems.
  • Manage the mill’s electrical and instrumentation title V PM’s.
  • Manage multiple projects from conception through completion.
  • Utilize root cause failure analysis to identify predictive and appropriate maintenance procedures.
  • Provide reliability, engineering and technical support to mill operations and maintenance.
  • Work outage days as needed & participate on the E/I on-call rotation.
  • Support and execute breaker and power system maintenance.
  • Apply the concepts of precision maintenance to ensure the equipment is designed, repaired, balanced, and aligned to strictly enforce standards before being placed in service.
  • Develop and enhance area Best Practices (BP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Support the mill-wide closure of R-Gap.


Job Requirements

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in the industrial electrical field, preferred.
  • Prior paper machine or pulp mill experience a plus.
  • Technical expertise in the area of PLC programming, Motor Control and AC/DC drives etc.
  • Experience with electrical power and power distribution.
  • Ability to handle multiple time sensitive projects and issues.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels or personnel, both hourly and management.
  • Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn and function in SAP.      
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving and decision making skills, as well as initiative and the ability to delegate decision making and other responsibilities.
  • Will take ownership to drive the implementations of solutions to produce positive results. 
  • Has the demonstrated ability to analyze data and apply a risk-based decision making process.
