Job Description


 The SAP Business Analyst is accountable for the direction, application development, implementation, maintenance and support of the IT Solutions for Verso’s business functions within the SAP environment (Finance & Accounting, Controlling, Taxation, Order to Cash, Sourcing, Plant Maintenance, and Reporting).   

The SAP Business Analyst will be able to apply extensive knowledge of both SAP ECC and 3rd party applications to satisfy business requirements in a dynamic environment.  This role will have responsibility to work with and ensure service delivery through a team consisting of both internal and external resources via an outsource agreement.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Business Partnership
    • Play a key role on business teams, gaining a seat at the table as a valued partner.
      • Establish and maintain a partnership in order to understand business goals and issues, and provide potential solution opportunities.
      • Serve as a liaison between business areas, other IT groups, and 3rd party solutions.
    • Provide consultation services to the business leaders in analyzing the technical requirements/issues/risk for implementation of new, or modification of existing business processes and their enabling technologies.
  • Business Analysis
    • Analyze complicated business processes, translating them into detailed requirements specifications which can be understood by the business and are executable by technical resources.
    • Drive the business requirements process, documenting high level needs.
    • Work with teams of IT and business resources in the creation of functional design documents that serve as the basis for development.
    • Approve requirements and design documents, and assist throughout the build phase, to ensure requirements are understood and met.
  • Ensure the best return on IT investments.
    • Provide subject matter expertise as it relates to Verso’s business processes and associated systems.
    • Participate in the execution of the IT Value Management Process to obtain business governance review and disposition of planned investments in information technology solutions.
    • Leverage technology to assist the business with process change.
    • Support both business and IT strategic goals.
  • Compliance
    • Provide subject matter expertise as it relates to application security, access requests, SOX compliance, and configuration controls.
    • Provide guidance for application access requests, segregation of duty requirements, restricted access remediation.
    • Support application configuration controls. Assist in the certification of correct application configuration to meet audit requirements.
  • Direct SAP-related Incident Management and Service Delivery.

Travel: Negotiable (< 10%)

Job Requirements

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

  • 3-5 years of relevant information technology and SAP experience.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Industry with a 24x7 environment preferred.


Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; an emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent years of relevant work experience.

Required skills:

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering functionality on time and within budget.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to understand business processes and information needs.
    • Current application development tools, techniques, databases and trends.
    • Application architecture – understanding efficient design techniques.
  • Strong self-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation) with business partners, business leaders, external customers, suppliers, IT leadership, and technical professionals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead development teams and to drive a project to resolution.
  • Ability to understand and assess new business needs, and facilitate the development of appropriate responses.
  • Demonstrated ability to design complex systems.
  • Collaborative manner, with the ability to coach team members.
  • Demonstrated adaptation to changing business needs and the ability to work in a variety of different business situations.
  • Proven track record dealing with conflict and ambiguity while making timely decisions.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes is a plus.
