Job Description

Purpose: This role exists to evaluate current operations and determine more efficient production processes that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness and production issues, are cost efficient and ensure high product quality.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Optimize production layouts, processes and supply chain to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain management information, planning and control systems.
  • Evaluate production schedules, specifications, orders and coordinate services to maximize productivity.
  • Develop and/or utilize new methods / tools to improve processes, oversee implementation of change, develop metrics to evaluate the new process and evaluate the cost benefits.
  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability or minimize cost.
  • Collaborate with others to prepare material and equipment lists, purchase orders, cost analyses and estimate production costs.
  • Continuously learn and apply a wide variety of engineering techniques, contribute to projects in a team environment and investigate, transfer and adapt processes, techniques or methods.
  • Support the development of formal training courses and if needed perform OJT training.
  • Training coworkers on new processes and developing training content.
  • Participate in and/or lead process improvement teams.
  • Evaluate accuracy or production and testing equipment.
  • Study and rearrange org charts, material flow and operations sequence.

Job Requirements

Required Experience and Education:

Minimum Required Experience and Education: The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, a related field and/or relevant work experience.  Familiarity with the paper/pulp industry is preferred.

  • Critical thinking, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, leadership, teamwork and presentation skills
  • Expertise in working with engineering and computer-assisted design software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with continuous improvement processes and Lean Six Sigma
  • Advanced knowledge or production machinery and job-related equipment and processes.
  • High level talent in computer technology and systems operations.
